Back to streets, check out my YouTube channel relaunch!
So I finally got around to taking YouTube serious, and started vlogging. I decided since I’m making an effort to put out more video content for myself I could use my return to journalism as a great intro video.
So I finally got around to taking YouTube serious, and started vlogging. I decided since I’m making an effort to put out more video content for myself I could use my return to journalism as a great intro video. Those who follow my periscope and twitter accounts are most familiar with my coverage of the NYC activism specifically the Black Lives Matter movement. This fist vlog has some photos as well as a short clip from a demonstration paying respect to Sandra Bland who died while in police custody back in 2015.
The second have of the vlog showcases some of the talent from Legendary Cyphers. L.C is a weekly hip hop event which is free to the public held in Union Sq Park. Emcees from all over the city gather along with hundreds of spectators throughout the night enjoying hip hop in it's true authentic form. You can watch my first ”episode” below!
Hope y'all enjoy the first of many more videos too come. There is quite a few dope events popping up here in NYC so go subscribe and stay tuned I'm coming with more content!
Legendary Cyphers x OKAYPLAYER ...
This week has been pretty eventful! I linked up twice with #LegendaryCyphers. In addition to the weekly cypher (which is in its second week, I accompanied the team for there performance at the OKAY SPACE in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This week has been pretty eventful! I linked up twice with #LegendaryCyphers. In addition to the weekly cypher (which is in its second week, I accompanied the team for there performance at the OKAY SPACE in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They did their thing as USUAL. Its cool to see the team which is in its 6th Season continue to get recognition for their incredible freestyle talent. The OkayPlayer staff were super cool and they definitely have dope ass workspace. Probably the coolest I've personally seen. I was able to snap some shots of the guys during their performance check out the pics...
Then there was last night Week 2 of the Season which flowed so much smoother than last week. If you've ever been to Jnion Sq. at night you know they type of ”characters” you can run into. The love and support for the event was great as usual. Plus for this who didn't know I live stream the hip-hop cypher on my periscope & twitter! So the you can watch the 4hr event from start to finish. Which is great for those not lucky enough to live in this expensive ass city. 😂
You watch the entire stream no need to download another app, but I will it's a way better experience if you do!

New Gear test shoot, finally done with that manual flash! (Sigh)
Last night I tested out some new gear...
So it’s been a while since I’ve posted to my blog, but I plan on doing way more updates for here on out even if it’s just a couple of photos a week!
yesterday I hit the photographic roots and attended the Nicholas Brooklyn Open Mic “Brooklyn SOULcial” hosted by my brother Jashua Sa-Ra! Got to test out this new speedlite and flash modifiers. I bought some color gels to kind of spice up my event photographer as well as add something new to my portraiture. If any one is interested in the types of gear I used shoot some comments below and I’ll send you the links. (I might just add another doing a product review later on!)
But enough of me blabbering here are a few test shots from last night...
Hundreds of Protesters protests Michael Cernovich's invitation to Columbia University
A mass protest was called by several local organizations in NYC after Mike Cernovich was invited to speak at Columbia University. Known for his provocative commentary and is often called a white supremacist and rape-apologist by activists. Demonstrators called for direct action to prevent Cernovich from speaking at the Columbia campus.

Known for his provocative commentary and is often called a white supremacist and rape-apologist by activists. Demonstrators called for direct action to prevent Cernovich from speaking at the Columbia campus. A large number of demonstrators present during the demonstration were students of the prestigious University. The protesters were not able to disrupt Cernovich's speaking engagement but a few demonstrators were able to make it through the lobby to confront Cernovich during the event. Local police ultimately ended up allowing Cernovich to escape through a side door at Lerner Hall escaping hundreds of protesters looking to confront the alt-right personality.

Pride March (NYC) is hands down one of my favorite events to shoot, and I always look forward to it on my calendar. I didn’t make it out to Dance Africa (B.A.M. Africa) so this is the first major event I’m covering this year and wanted to push myself to create those immersive photos I was known for back when I did event photography.
